It Don't Mean a Thing If You Ain't Got That Swing...

Many of us are familiar with the catchy line "It don't mean a thing if you ain't got that swing..." but most of us are oblivious as to who actually wrote the composition! The original song, "It Don't Mean a Thing" has become a jazz standard and was composed by Duke Ellington during the 1930's. Duke Ellington is an American composer and pianist born in 1899. He died at the age of 75. You should check out the original performance of "It Don't Mean a Thing" by Duke Ellington and his Orchestra by watching the video below. The performance was in 1943.
